Gender Studies Undergraduate Student at the University of Victoria

About me

Hey y’all! My name is Sarah, I am 25 years old, and in my third year of the Gender Studies program (with a minor in Indigenous Studies) at the University of Victoria! I am a settler living on traditional W̱SÁNEĆ and Lekwugnen lands, and I use she/they pronouns.

My post-secondary education journey has been long and confusing. Starting with plans for a degree in science, moving on to adventure tourism, and eventually coming around again to my lifelong dream of being a teacher! I am hoping to use the skills I have picked up in my Gender Studies program to create a welcoming and inclusive classroom space for my future students. My goal is to create a comfortable and inspiring atmosphere, and to help those who do not excel in traditional school systems to thrive and learn to love learning!

Outside of school I work at an independent living seniors residence, and I love it! Being able to make bonds with and learn the stories of these amazing seniors is extremely fulfilling and rewarding. I also enjoy spending my free time reading, creating, and playing video games. I have an intense love of the outdoors, and would spend my entire summers camping if possible! I enjoy spending time with my three cats as well.
